About Membership in CBI

The long-term objective of The Center for Biomarkers in Imaging (CBI) is the utilization of validated imaging biomarkers to accelerate the pace of drug development. To do so requires not only participation but also committed research from Industry, Government, and Academia. Recognizing the need for education in the community, and being sensitive to the high hurdle rate associated with initiating industry-sponsored research at academic sites, we have developed a consortium-like structure as a means of permitting industry to learn, interact, and ultimately work with other members of the consortium at minimal cost.

As envisioned, the Center consists of members of Government, Academia, Patient Groups, and numerous sectors of Industry including pharmaceuticals, biotechs, life-science imaging, CROs, and informatics companies. Center members enjoy the following benefits:
  • Two Center-wide meetings per year, with ample opportunity to interact and network with others who are also focusing on the discovery, validation, utilization, and approval of biomarkers.

  • In-depth technical presentations by academic or government keynote speakers on topics of general interest to the membership. Some illustrative examples include:

    • Use of surrogate endpoints for drug approval

    • Economic modeling of the use of imaging biomarkers in drug development

    • Approved imaging agent pharmaceuticals

    • New imaging biomarkers on the horizon

    • Disease focused look at imaging biomarkers for oncology, neurology, cardiovascular, psychiatric drug development

    • Associations between molecular and imaging biomarkers

    • Progress in molecular imaging

  • Early access to expert evaluations of trends and new developments.

  • Advanced access to technical reports and white papers.

  • Invitations to special workshops.

In short, Center membership represents a low-cost option for companies seeking to better understand imaging biomarkers and their role in the drug development process.
