Causative Classification System for Ischemic Stroke Web Site Goes Live 1 Dec 2006
A new web site has been launched which attempts to standardize the identification of the likely mechanism underlying ischemic stroke, based on information from a complete clinical exam and “stroke work-up” (including imaging findings). The site allows the user to interactively input all relevant data, and as output the system classifies the stroke etiology into 5 major categories: large artery atherosclerosis, cardio-aortic embolism, small artery occlusion, other causes, and undermined causes, and assesses the level of evidence supporting each.
