CBI Receives NCI AP4 Planning Grant - July 25, 2004

The Center for Biomarkers in Imaging (CBI) announced today that it received an award notification from the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute (NCI) for its application on the use of imaging biomarkers to accelerate the development of orphan oncology drugs.

This Academic-Public-Private Partnership Program (AP4) planning grant contemplates the formation of a consortium consisting of pharmaceutical, biotech, imaging, and life science companies, as well as government organizations, other academic institutions, and patient advocacy groups.

The principal investigator of this grant is A. Gregory Sorensen, MD, Director of CBI and Associate Director of the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. The co-PI is Bruce Chabner, MD, Chief of Division of Hematology/Oncology, and Associate Director of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center.
