Raju Kucherlapati, PhD

Dr. Kucherlapati obtained his Ph.D degree in Genetics from the University of Illinois and conducted his postdoctoral work in the Department of Biology at Yale University. Dr. Kucherlapati was the Lola and Saul Kramer Professor of Molecular Genetics and University Chairman of the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. More recently, he became the Paul C. Cabot Professor of Genetics and Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and is the first Scientific Director of the Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics.

Dr. Kucherlapati's recent research contributions include his participation in mapping and sequencing of the human and mouse genomes. His research interests also include cloning of human disease genes and the generation and characterization of mouse models for human disease. To date Dr. Kucherlapati holds 12 patents. He recently served as a member of the National Advisory Committee for Human Genome Research at the NIH and is the Co-Chair of the NCI Mouse Models of Human Cancer Consortium. He serves on many editorial boards including the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Kucherlapati also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of two public companies: Abgenix and Millennium Pharmaceutics. He is also a Board member of the privately held companies Zyomyx and GenPath.
